FunFlicks®, Inc., an Austin based company is pleased to announce it has acquired all assets of FunFlicks®, LLC, a Maryland corporation. FunFlicks®, LLC is a 12 year old company founded by Todd Severn, based in Baltimore Maryland that’s been providing outdoor movies and inflatable movie screen rentals to the Maryland, Washington D.C. and Delaware areas since 2001. In 2008, FunFlicks® unveiled its licensing program and has quickly grown into the only nationwide outdoor movie company, now boasting more than 40 independently owned and operated outdoor movie businesses operating under the FunFlicks® brand in 44 states and more than 90 cities across America.

Funflicks® customers include single & multi-residential, churches, schools, HOA’s, cities, Parks & Recreation Departments and universities. Our Texas based business was the 5 year leader in events, sales and revenue for all FunFlicks locations around the country,” says Darrell Landers, CEO and President of FunFlicks®, Inc. “We felt our success in Texas could be replicated throughout the country by other FunFlicks® licensees and wanted to share our best practices and marketing methodologies with other FunFlicks® owners – so we bought the national company! Darrell was one of the first licensees to sign up with FunFlicks® in the spring of 2008, working the business part-time while working his full-time IT job. “I chose FunFlicks® because it seemed like something I could eventually build and cultivate into a full-time business if I worked hard and focused on providing a great customer experience.” Previous to FunFlicks®, Darrell had a 20 year tenure as an Information Technology professional. Darrell played many roles but mostly served in the capacity of IT Manager/Director and Project Manager with American Airlines, Dell, Verizon and Cisco.
In March 2010, Laura Mauro joined FunFlicks® as Co-Owner and CFO. Laura is not only a longtime family friend of the company but an outstanding leader in the community having served with The Junior League of Austin as the Chair for A Christmas Affair and Board Member from 2003-2007, along with serving many other philanthropic organizations . “This opportunity was too good to pass up,” says friend, customer, CFO and now Vice President, Laura Mauro. “Within 5 years we’ve grown to have 40 licensees in 90 cities, and we are now eyeing international expansion to the UK, South America and Australia.”
In spring of 2012 FunFlicks® put new web based software systems in place that allowed customers to book their events online, make payments, sign outdoor movie equipment rental agreements and give testimonials. “It was about this time we looked out over the FunFlicks landscape as a team, saw that Todd had created a huge, national footprint as a foundation, and felt like we had what was needed to take FunFlicks to the next level and beyond,” says now CEO Darrell Landers. “Todd had worked tirelessly to create the national network of licensees, but said he was in essence ready to see FunFlicks® go the distance with new leadership. We are simply thrilled with this acquisition. We bought the company not only because we love cinema, but because we know FunFlicks® offers the best value in the outdoor movie industry, and our growing number of customers prove it.”
